Rigid aluminium slats that roll down from a headbox on the outside of the glass — sun, glare and total blackout in one motorised system. A shading product, not a security-rated one.
What these actually do
Foam-filled aluminium slats roll down external guides to seal a window completely, stopping sun and glare before they reach the glass at all — the most complete exterior sun control we fit. For a holiday home left closed through the working week, the same shutter gives genuine blackout and a noticeably quieter, more insulated house without anyone needing to be there to lower a blind.
02Shading, not security
We're plain about this because the two products get confused constantly: our roller shutters are made and sold for sun, heat, glare and light control. They are not a security-rated product, and we won't sell them as one. If a security-rated shutter is what a particular window needs, that's a different product, quoted separately on request.
03Coastal spec
Marine-grade coatings and hardware on every install this close to open water, powder-coated slats colour-matched to the facade, and boxes either surface-mounted on an existing wall or built into a new rebuild's detailing so the box disappears completely. Motorised as standard, with manual override and app/remote/schedule control.

One honest limit
A roller shutter is a shading and insulation product. If what you actually need is security-rated glazing protection, say so at the in-home measure and we'll quote that separately — we'd rather tell you plainly than sell the wrong product.

What a shutter on this coast costs
A roller shutter is an aluminium curtain running in guides outside the glass with a headbox fixed to the wall, so it is the heaviest thing we install and the band shows it: R3,500 to R5,500 per square metre installed hand-operated, and R5,000 to R7,000 motorised. The guides, the box, the slat profile and what the wall is built of all move a job inside that.
Small openings still carry a minimum charge. Worth repeating here because it changes what you should compare: these are shading shutters for sun, heat and glare, not a security-rated product. Nothing exterior is priced from a photograph, so the facade and the exposure are read at the free measure and the written figure follows.
