Blinds, Roller Shutters & Awnings, Sunningdale
Sunningdale sits inland between Table View and Parklands, five to ten minutes from Bloubergstrand and Big Bay's beaches — close enough to share the coastal wind and salt load, far enough back that the brief here is usually family living first.
Coastal exposure, family-suburb brief
Sunningdale's leafy streets and garden-fronted family homes sit back from the immediate beachfront, which softens the wind and salt load compared with Melkbosstrand or Bloubergstrand — but doesn't remove it. We still spec salt-air-rated hardware as standard; we just aren't fighting the same gale on every elevation.
Gardens change the brief
Unlike the tight beachfront stands further north, Sunningdale's homes generally run proper gardens and entertaining spaces — folding-arm awnings and zip screens here are usually a lifestyle upgrade for a garden patio, not a defensive measure against an exposed dune-facing wall.
Family homes, family safety
With Sunningdale School, West Coast Christian School and Blouberg International School all serving the area, this is a suburb full of young families. Child-safe cord and chain tensioners are standard on every install, and cordless or motorised control is our default recommendation for nurseries and playrooms.
Still worth a wind sensor
Sunningdale is close enough to the beachfront — five to ten minutes from Big Bay and Bloubergstrand — that the Cape Doctor still reaches it with real force on an open afternoon. We don't skip the wind sensor on an awning here just because the sea isn't visible from the stand.
Alongside Sunningdale, we measure and fit throughout Melkbosstrand and the wider Blaauwberg coastal corridor.
